SENSORIUM is the name given to the sensory organ and especially to the part of the cerebral cortex where sensory impressions are perceived; the emotional center and the states of consciousness that are associated with it. A Sensorium, or Source of the Senses, from which sensations arise.

About Seidlers SENSORIUM

Seidler's SENSORIUM fosters a sensual relationship with nature through art with performance walks in the forest, the sea and the river landscape. Biological processes are experienced by the audience in a caring, playful audience- and climate-engaging space together with performers, dancers and singers.

Our motto is "THE SENSUALITY OF ART CAN RE-CREATE OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE". We address a playful community of engaged audiences of all ages and strive to make the uniqueness of the landscape accessible with age-specific versions of our performance walks.

We want the audience to become part of the slowness of the landscape and for the landscape to become part of the audience. The audience will experience a strengthened ability to orient themselves with sensuality in life and achieve well-being in communities. There is great value in experiencing art in dialogue with nature - even for the youngest audience.

Audience-engaging PERFORMANCE WALKS

Our sensory audience-engaging performance walks about sensory approaches to biological processes can be experienced on walks over larger distances in nature in staged and natural landscapes in zoos, parks, forests, streams, beaches... Audience groups of 8 - 14 people, walk 45 - 90 min., approx. 1 km. between 4 - 6 stage stations in nature.

The stage stations are created by brought implementable art installations, which are combined with the landscape's scenography such as hollow trees, exposed roots, slopes, quiet spruce forest, old oaks... here the audience meets performers, singers, dancers, storytellers or object animators who stage the biological theme of the performance walk lyrically and sensuously with the community as the focal point.

Art education on NATURE

House artist workshops in performative creation process in nature are offered by the School Area. The students try their hand at a creative creation process in nature together with house artists, where the students create their own mini performance walk based on a biological knowledge course and field work.

Teachers are professional visual and performing artists, as well as nature guides from Municipal Nature Centers or possibly Sensorium's Nature and Culture Mediators. Teaching projects are developed and led by Marika Seidler in collaboration with Art Institutions, Nature Centers and Municipalities.

Organisation

Seidlers SENSORIUM is a self-producing private organization. The company was established in 2015 by Artistic Director and Producer Marika Seidler. The idea for Seidlers Sensorium was and still is to create sensory art experiences with a focus on a sustainable and care-based relationship with nature for all ages.

Performance walks on tour have been approved by the Danish Arts Foundation's Performing Arts Committee for 50% theater reimbursement. New performance walks are performed at the theater industry's spring KLAP festival for children and young people. We tour throughout the country's beautiful nature in collaboration with art institutions, municipalities, arts councils, festivals, theater associations and nature centers.

Seidlers Sensorium has a grant production studio in Copenhagen at the Fabrikken Foundation for Art and Design. Artists and designers working at the studio and co-create performers outside in nature come from all over Denmark.
